We called them with a week to go and tickets that weren't even on sale yet. Honestly, I wasn't sure it could be done. Then the gates opened and people just kept coming. They stayed with us until the last car left on Sunday. That's what close friends do.

The challenge

seven days to reach outside the car community.

Muscle Cars Sofia had an established community of approximately 6,000 followers. MADNESS needed to attract a much larger audience.

With more than 70 street, muscle and performance cars coming to XOPark Sofia, we needed to introduce the event to car enthusiasts, curious newcomers and people looking for something different to do in Sofia.

How we approached it

  1. Move 1

One Facebook Event at the centre.

We made the Facebook Event the campaign's main destination for discovery, event information and public interest.

It reached 378,500 accounts and generated more than 2,600 responses, including 316 going and 2,300 interested. For newcomers, that visible interest helped establish credibility around an unfamiliar event.

  2. Move 2

Give people context before asking them to buy.

We created an advertorial showing newcomers what MADNESS was and what they could expect at XOPark Sofia. It drove 456 landing-page views and supported online ticket sales.

  3. Move 3

    Every campaign had one job.

With seven days to promote MADNESS, we couldn't afford to rely on a long sequence of campaign stages.

We developed four focused campaigns covering awareness, event information, ticket sales and live promotion, allowing each to address a specific audience need.

    3. Campaign 3Ticket sales

  4. Move 4

    Turning Saturday into Sunday's advertising.

The campaign continued after the gates opened.

Before the weekend, we could show the cars, the programme and what visitors could expect. On Saturday, we captured the event as it happened. Footage of the cars, crowds and atmosphere was edited that day and used in Sunday's promotion.

Event marketing FAQ

the short answers.

  • A seven-day event marketing campaign needs a clear offer, strong creative and rapid execution. For MADNESS, close friends. coordinated strategy, content production, advertising and live coverage within a week. The event attracted more than 2,700 paying visitors across two days.

  • Offer both, but judge the campaign by attendance. At MADNESS Auto Expo, around 90% of paying visitors bought tickets at the entrance, so online ticket sales alone would have significantly understated the result. Event organisers should assess total ticket sales alongside digital campaign performance.

  • Use a Facebook Event as a central destination for discovery, information and public interest, supported by targeted advertising and content. The MADNESS Facebook Event reached 378,500 accounts and generated more than 2,600 responses, compared with the organiser's existing community of approximately 6,000 followers.

  • An advertorial is promotional content presented in an editorial-style format. It gives readers context about an event, including what they'll experience and why it may interest them. For MADNESS, we used an advertorial to introduce the car show to people unfamiliar with the organiser before directing them towards ticket information.
